A remarkable spring season in which American Heritage captured state championships in baseball, softball and boys and girls track vaulted the Patriots to the top spot in the inaugural MaxPreps Cup standings.
Using a formula designed to determine the top prep programs in the country, the MaxPreps Cup recognizes the Top 25 high school programs in the nation as well as the top overall program in each state, the top boys and girls programs and the top large school, medium school and small school programs.
American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) took home honors in three of those categories, as its 1,031 points easily outdistanced Summit (Bend, Ore.), which finished a remarkable season in its own right with 929 points. The Patriots are also the top medium schools program (schools with enrollment between 1,000 and 2,000 students) and they have the top female sports program with 517 points.
