rachel’s rants, raves and reviews: fall nail trends

With the fall season rapidly approaching, it is the perfect time to study up on all the latest trends that will hit streets along with the falling autumn leaves. Yes, the changing of the season calls for a new wardrobe and lipstick, but it also means it is time for a manicure update.

It is time to say goodbye to bubble gum pink, and please do kiss the neon nails au revoir, for the colder weather calls for brilliant burgundies, plum purples, and rugged reds.

While there is something nostalgic about cozying up by a fire with a hot chocolate in hand, and dark polish on the nails, it does not mean that color is out of the question for Fall 2012.

Midnight blues, cobalts, and deep teals are seen in almost all the new fall collections. Want to be even bolder? Try a metallic gold or silver manicure.

Of course, a neutral nail is always in style, and especially this fall. Many designers have chosen to send their models down the runway with creamy neutral polish in off white and beige tones.

In order to pull of these color trends like a true fashionista, keep the nails short, square, and super shiny when applying a simple one-toned polish (of course in one of the previously mentions colors).

Prefer and longer round nail instead? Opt for a French manicure with a funky metallic tip. Jessica Biel dressed to impressed at the premiere of Total Recall with her matching nails and shoes. Her Louis Vuitton sliver cap-toe pumps perfectly inspired her white and silver manicure.

The transitional period from summer to fall is a great time to experiment with these new trends. It may take a little time to pin down the perfect plum or grey, but soon or later that polish will be discovered.
