Wow. I was pretty amazed to read the article about a high school in Utah that turned away girls at the door of the homecoming dance for dresses that were too short. Too short! I have never seen such a modest looking group of high school girls going to a dance. I applaud the dresses I saw on the Facebook page they created called a “homecoming spirit massacre.” I have no idea where they even found those dresses. Check out photo below. I guess they don’t have Forever 21 in Utah.
This is a photo of me and my friends (above) before our homecoming dance last weekend. I think we look great. (All of our dresses our above our knees, our height differences made this photo hard to post without cutting off all of our heads. I already did a job on my friend Kim on the left. Sorry Kim). We would have caused major problems in Utah but fortunately, New Jersey gave us no grief. There is nothing wrong with a few inches of lower thigh showing. Think shorts, sports uniforms, not to mention bathing suits. My friends are all beautiful, smart, creative, athletic and wonderful citizens of our school and community. We admire fashion trends but are not a slave to them. We dress for ourselves not to impress each other, or guys. (Well maybe a little to impress each other). We enjoy the freedom to dress the way we choose and we wish all teens around our country and the world had the same right.
